Chronicle of Georgia: Bearded Figure with Folded Arms

Bearded Figure with Folded Arms. “Better a glorious death than a shameful life” — Rustaveli’s words could stand under many of the heroes honoured on these pillars. A portrait in bronze, close enough to read every line of the face and robe. Georgian icon painting and chased metalwork — gold and silver icons such as the Khakhuli triptych — inspired the rich ornament of the memorial.
