Chronicle of Georgia: Crowned Figure Among Mourners
Crowned Figure Among Mourners. King Erekle II, the “Little Kakhetian”, led the eastern Georgian kingdom through the 18th century and fought until old age. A crowned figure on one of the pillars, seen face to face from the height of the relief. Georgian tradition holds that the Apostle Andrew, the First-Called, preached in these lands — one of the earliest threads in the nation’s Christian story.
