Chronicle of Georgia: Figure with Outstretched Arms
Figure with Outstretched Arms. Georgian icon painting and chased metalwork — gold and silver icons such as the Khakhuli triptych — inspired the rich ornament of the memorial. A sacred scene from the memorial, with figures in long robes rendered in deep bronze relief. Crowned heads look out from several pillars — the Bagrationi dynasty ruled parts of Georgia for about a thousand years, one of the longest reigns in Europe.
