Chronicle of Georgia: Pillar Base by the Gallery Building
Pillar Base by the Gallery Building. Standing at the foot of a pillar shows the memorial’s true scale: a single relief figure is taller than a house. A 360° view from the upper plaza, where the giant pillars stand in a ring on the summit of the hill. The five-cross flag of Georgia, a medieval symbol revived as the state flag in 2004, carries the same Christian heritage shown on the upper tiers.
