Chronicle of Georgia: Ruler Seated Among Courtiers
Ruler Seated Among Courtiers. Queen Tamar ruled from 1184 to 1213 with the title of king (mepe); her reign is remembered as Georgia’s Golden Age of art, faith and power. A crowned figure on one of the pillars, seen face to face from the height of the relief. Twentieth-century poets such as Galaktion Tabidze carried the Georgian word into the modern age, continuing the chronicle in verse.
