Chronicle of Georgia: Text Pillar Seen at an Angle
Text Pillar Seen at an Angle. Some of the oldest dated Georgian inscriptions, from the 5th century, are carved in the Bolnisi Sioni church — stone, like these pillars, chosen to make words last. Lines of carved text cover this part of the pillar, like a page from a book in stone. King David IV, called the Builder, reigned from 1089 to 1125, reunited the country and turned Georgia into the strongest power of the Caucasus.
