Along the Ruined Fortress Wall. The path runs beside a long stretch of crumbling wall, with the open valley falling away on the other side. In the Middle Ages the hilltop was enclosed by a stone defensive wall with towers and a gate; its weathered ruins still line the paths around the church. Through invasions, earthquakes and the Soviet decades the church survived with remarkably few changes, which is why scholars value it so highly.
