Jvari Monastery: Apses and Steps on the North Side
Apses and Steps on the North Side. Close to the walls, the rounded apses and a flight of steps show the church’s carefully fitted stonework. The church is a tetraconch: four apses around a central dome, with deep round niches tucked between them — a compact, perfectly balanced plan. The walls are built of large, finely dressed blocks of pale stone that glow honey-gold in the low evening sun.
