Bell Frame in the Courtyard. Three bells hang from a simple metal frame in the courtyard, a few steps from the church walls. Jvari is a working monastery: visitors are asked to dress modestly, and women traditionally cover their heads before entering the church. The cross on the hill was believed to work miracles, and pilgrims from across the Caucasus climbed here to pray long before the stone church existed.
