Jvari Monastery: Passage between the Ruined Wall Towers
Passage between the Ruined Wall Towers. Two massive stumps of the old towers frame a short flight of steps — the line of the medieval gateway into the enclosure. In the Middle Ages the hilltop was enclosed by a stone defensive wall with towers and a gate; its weathered ruins still line the paths around the church. The Aragvi comes down from the Greater Caucasus along the Georgian Military Road before it meets the Mtkvari here.
