High Drone Orbit from the West. A higher drone orbit about 27 m above the hilltop, looking at the church from the west with both river valleys around it. Mikhail Lermontov opened his poem “Mtsyri” (1839) with this very landscape: the place where the Aragvi and the Kura embrace below an old monastery. Look across to Mtskheta for the tall roofs of Svetitskhoveli, the 11th-century cathedral that tradition says keeps the robe of Christ.
