Jvari Monastery: Stone Ruin and Lone Tree above the River
Stone Ruin and Lone Tree above the River. A weathered stone ruin and a lone, wind-bent tree stand on the slope high above the river bend. Around the middle of the 6th century a small church was built beside the venerated cross; its remains survive just north of the main church. The hill changes with the seasons: brown and bare in early spring, bright green by June, golden again in autumn.
