Jvari Monastery: Walkway between the Fortress Ruins
Walkway between the Fortress Ruins. The stone walkway threads between tall fragments of the defensive wall on its way up to the church. In the Middle Ages the hilltop was enclosed by a stone defensive wall with towers and a gate; its weathered ruins still line the paths around the church. The hill changes with the seasons: brown and bare in early spring, bright green by June, golden again in autumn.
